Chapter 479
The air in the office was thick with tension.
Olivia Kensington gripped the sole of her shoe tightly, her knuckles turning white as she prepared to strike Sophia Montgomery and Cassandra Montgomery.
Just as Olivia was about to lash out, Elizabeth Dawson snatched the shoe from her hand with a smirk.
"Miss Kensington, I despise Sophia just as much as you do," Elizabeth sneered. "Let's see who can slap her harder. How about it?"
Seeing two people eager to attack Sophia, Cassandra's lips curled into a satisfied smile.
But Sophia Carter had had enough.
"Olivia, you absolute fool!" she snapped, her voice sharp enough to silence the entire room.
All eyes turned to her.
Sophia Carter glared at Olivia with undisguised contempt. "You parade around like some high-society princess, but you're nothing more than a pawn! A real heiress wouldn't stoop to this level. You're pathetic—letting rich women manipulate you into doing their dirty work!"
She turned her fiery gaze to Elizabeth. "And you, Elizabeth? After everything Sophia did to save your job, this is how you repay her? You're not just ungrateful—you're inhuman. If either of you dares to lay a hand on her, I swear I'll make sure you regret it!"
Olivia hesitated, her earlier bravado crumbling.
She had only wanted to humiliate Sophia, not cause real harm. The memory of the broken chair incident still haunted her.
Elizabeth scoffed. "Olivia, I thought you had more backbone. Fine. If you won't do it, I will."
Before anyone could react, Sophia Carter lunged at Elizabeth, grabbing her hair. Elizabeth retaliated by clawing at Sophia Carter’s face.
The two women tumbled to the floor in a violent struggle.
Just then, the elevator doors slid open.
Sophia Montgomery stepped out, her expression hardening as she took in the scene.
"Enough!" she commanded, her voice cutting through the chaos.
She strode forward, her gaze locking onto Cassandra. "If you want to hurt me, then do it. But leave Sophia Carter out of this."
Cassandra smirked. "How noble. Very well. Elizabeth, let her go."
Elizabeth obeyed instantly, releasing Sophia Carter with a shove.
Sophia Montgomery rushed to her friend’s side. Blood trickled from Sophia Carter’s nose, her face already swelling.
"Get out of here," Sophia Montgomery whispered urgently. "I don’t want you to see this."
But Sophia Carter shook her head stubbornly.
Cassandra’s voice dripped with amusement. "Elizabeth, don’t hold back."
Elizabeth advanced, her grin widening. "Let’s see if anyone comes to save you this time, Sophia."
Sophia Montgomery shielded Sophia Carter behind her and lifted her chin. "Do what you want. I won’t run."
She closed her eyes, bracing for the blow.
The office fell silent.
Even those who had once disliked Sophia Montgomery couldn’t stomach this cruelty.
But Elizabeth’s hatred burned too fiercely.
She raised the shoe high—
And brought it down with a sickening crack.
Sophia Montgomery’s head snapped to the side. Pain exploded across her cheek, her vision swimming. Blood welled at the corner of her lips.
Sophia Carter let out a choked sob.
Cassandra clapped her hands in delight. "Oh, this is priceless! Look at that face—half swollen like a rotten peach!" She giggled. "Elizabeth, do it again. I want to take pictures."
Sophia Montgomery swallowed hard, her jaw clenched against the agony.
Elizabeth raised the shoe once more—
"STOP!"
A voice thundered from the doorway.
Elizabeth barely glanced over. "Who’s the hero now? Too late—Sophia’s already ruined!"
Her laughter died abruptly as cold metal clamped around her wrist.
Handcuffs.
