Chapter 441
Sophia had no patience for Olivia's nonsense. "Excuse me, I have work to do. Stop harassing me. If you spread rumors that affect my job, I won’t hesitate to call the police!"
With that, she tugged at Sophia Carter’s arm. "Let’s go. Ignore her."
The two walked away, but not before Sophia Carter turned back and stuck out her tongue. "Hah! Serves you right!"
Olivia stomped her foot, her face twisted in fury. "You’ll regret this! Just wait until my cousin Julian gets back from Kingsbury! You’ll pay!"
She knew the two major shareholders were absent—Alexander Kensington hadn’t shown up for weeks due to his grandfather’s illness, and Julian Montgomery was practically a ghost in the office even on a good day, let alone while traveling.
Olivia smirked. No one could stop her from causing trouble now.
But before she could revel in her imagined victory, the HR manager appeared. "Miss Kensington, you’re disrupting our workplace. Leave immediately, or we’ll involve the authorities."
Olivia gaped. "You’re kicking me out?"
The manager crossed his arms. "You’re not an employee. One more disturbance, and security will escort you out."
Olivia’s face crumpled. "Waaah—!" She burst into tears and fled, only to whip out her phone the second she was outside. "Cousin Charlotte! That Sophia Montgomery is back at work! She—she called me stupid! She said you were using me!"
"You are stupid!" Charlotte’s voice crackled through the phone, sharp as broken glass. "An absolute imbecile! Do you really think Julian would ever look at you? Even my fiancé Liam finds you repulsive!"
Olivia sniffled dramatically. "But cousin, I only did this for you! I want you to marry Liam quickly! Even if you leave the Thornton family, you’ll still be a rich wife! And I—I never expected Julian to marry me. I just wanted one night with him. Just one!"
"You disgusting little—!" Charlotte’s shriek was cut off as she slammed the phone down, trembling with rage.
Sophia’s audacity infuriated her. How dare she waltz back into the office like nothing happened? And now she was provoking Olivia too?
Unacceptable.
Charlotte immediately dialed Isabella Thornton in Kingsbury, her tone sickly sweet. "Miss Thornton… are you busy?"
Isabella’s laugh was icy. "Charlotte, your little stunt last night gave me an idea. What if Sophia isn’t pregnant with my fiancé’s child, but yours? You’re terrified Liam will abandon you for her."
Charlotte’s nails dug into her palm. "Isabella, we both hate Sophia. Shouldn’t we focus on her instead of tearing each other apart?"
A pause. Then Isabella exhaled. "You’re right. And don’t worry—I’ve already started dealing with her."
In Kingsbury’s elite military hospital, William Thornton rested in his private suite. His condition had stabilized—his collapse three weeks ago had been triggered by sheer fury after Ethan Blackwood publicly humiliated Isabella at Blackwood Manor.
The scandal had spread like wildfire. Now, even Kingsbury’s upper crust whispered about Sophia Montgomery—the ruthless gold-digger who’d seduced Ethan.
Isabella entered the room, her eyes red-rimmed.
"Grandfather," she whimpered, kneeling beside his bed. "Why won’t Sophia disappear? She’s still tormenting us! Charlotte just called—Sophia’s been flirting with Liam! And yesterday, my own cousin scolded me for ‘bullying’ her!"
William’s fist slammed into the bedside table.
"Grandfather, no!" Isabella clutched his hand. "Please don’t hurt yourself over this! I—I’ll give up Ethan if I must. I just can’t bear seeing our family suffer because of her!"
William’s eyes burned. "No granddaughter of mine will surrender to trash. That girl will regret crossing us."
Meanwhile, in Harborview City, Sophia sat at her desk, unaware of the storm gathering around her.
But the winds of revenge were howling.
And they would not be kind.
