Chapter 92
He motioned for her to come closer.
Vivian Bennett hesitated before returning to the hospital bedside.
Liam Sullivan efficiently set up the small table tray and arranged the breakfast neatly.
Vivian looked down at the spread.
The meal was exquisitely prepared and abundant.
She picked up the glass of milk and took a small sip.
"Take the next few days off to rest at home. Don't come to the office," Liam stated abruptly.
Vivian's fingers stilled slightly.
Taking consecutive days off would be difficult to explain to the manager.
Hannah Green was just looking for an opportunity to cause trouble for her.
Liam saw right through her concern. "I'll personally approve your leave request."
Vivian was stunned.
With the CEO's special approval, the manager naturally wouldn't dare say anything.
But did this count as special privilege?
Was she essentially using backdoor connections?
"You were injured on duty. You deserve proper recovery time," Liam's gaze was intense, his tone leaving no room for argument.
"Thank you, Boss Liam," Vivian replied softly.
Noticing her deliberate distance, Liam's brow furrowed slightly.
"If you really want to thank me, why not consider my previous proposal?"
His eyes were deep and penetrating, as if trying to draw her in.
Vivian's heart skipped a beat.
"Do you really need a girlfriend to ward off admirers?"
With his qualifications, why would he need to go to such lengths?
Unless it was for Isabella Sullivan?
"I genuinely do need one," Liam's gaze was burning, impossible to avoid.
The pressure from his family was increasing daily.
If he didn't take some action soon, his parents would likely intervene in his marriage plans.
Vivian opened her mouth to speak but stopped herself.
In the end, she just silently lowered her head and continued eating.
Agree to be his girlfriend?
It sounded like something out of a fantasy.
"Silence means agreement," Liam's voice was low, carrying a magnetic, almost hypnotic quality.
Vivian sighed in resignation. "So saving my life means I have to offer myself in return?"
A hint of amusement flickered in Liam's eyes. "Shouldn't it?"
"Are you seriously doing this?" Vivian found it absurd.
What would Isabella do then?
"Yes," Liam stated decisively.
Vivian was speechless.
Yet doubts still lingered in her heart.
She quickly finished her breakfast.
Liam called for the doctor to reexamine her.
After confirming she was fine, he personally handled her discharge procedures.
The black limousine came to a smooth stop at the entrance of Lakeside Manor.
"Boss Liam, I'm here," Vivian unbuckled her seatbelt and turned to say goodbye.
Her fingertips had just touched the door handle when his hand suddenly closed around her wrist.
