Chapter 87
Liam Sullivan returned to the company.
His grandmother's sudden visit and her insistence on arranging blind dates left him deeply unsettled.
He massaged his temples, his thoughts inevitably drifting to Vivian Bennett.
If she were his chosen partner, the endless stream of arranged meetings would become bearable.
A faint smile touched his lips at the thought of her.
He took out his phone and dialed her number directly.
He knew she would avoid him after last night, but he couldn't resist hearing her voice.
Emily Davis noticed Vivian's phone ringing incessantly on her desk.
The screen displayed a contact saved simply as "B."
Hesitating for a moment, Emily answered it. "Hello?"
An unfamiliar female voice made Liam frown.
His tone turned cold. "Where is Vivian?"
"She went to get coffee beans. She hasn't returned yet," Emily replied truthfully.
"Coffee beans?" Liam's voice dropped several degrees. "That is not part of her duties."
Emily grew nervous. "Manager Hannah Green assigned the task. We had no choice..."
Liam's expression darkened.
Manager Hannah, the one he had transferred to a neighboring city, had returned already?
And she was targeting Vivian again. She clearly hadn't learned her lesson.
His face instantly clouded with anger.
...
Vivian had been sent to fetch coffee beans first thing in the morning by Manager Hannah.
She went to the cafeteria, only to be told the coffee beans were out of stock and she needed to retrieve them from the underground warehouse.
Reluctant but wanting to avoid further trouble, she headed to the warehouse.
"Hello? I'm here for the coffee beans!"
She called out several times outside the warehouse door.
Receiving no response, she ventured inside alone.
The moment she stepped in, the lights abruptly cut out.
The heavy door slammed shut behind her.
Vivian was trapped inside.
"Open the door! I'm still in here!" She rushed to the door, pounding on it with her fists.
Muffled voices echoed from outside, but no one responded to her pleas.
"Let me out! There's someone in here!"
She screamed until her voice grew hoarse, her palms stinging from the impact.
Complete darkness enveloped the warehouse.
Vivian was terrified of the dark.
Her claustrophobia began to trigger.
Her breathing became labored and ragged.
She collapsed weakly onto the cold floor.
"Help... me..."
Her cries grew fainter and fainter.
...
Back in the CEO's office.
Liam had just returned from a meeting.
His secretary approached him quietly. "Boss, shall I arrange lunch for you?"
