Chapter 633
"Get out."
She removed the knife and walked out.
Liam Sullivan's car had just pulled up at the company entrance when it was surrounded by a dense crowd of reporters.
Cameras and microphones were pointed at him.
"Mr. Sullivan, you've been out of sight since the engagement. Are you dissatisfied with the marriage?"
"Is the woman in the newspapers the other woman? Are you abandoning Miss White for her?"
"We heard that young lady was hospitalized and has been unconscious for two days. Was it a suicide attempt over love? Will you take responsibility?"
The questions rained down like hail.
Liam's expression darkened.
Security personnel quickly rushed forward, pushing through the crowd and escorting him towards the building.
Oliver Winston was waiting in the lobby. He strode forward as soon as Liam entered.
"A-Xu, where have you been these past two days? Your phone was unreachable." Oliver's brow was furrowed tightly.
Liam glanced at the still-agitated reporters outside. "What's going on? I told you to suppress this."
This was the last thing he wanted to see right now.
Vivian Bennett was on the island, temporarily shielded from it.
But this matter was like a thorn, lodged in his heart.
He didn't want her to suffer any more grievances.
"It was suppressed," Oliver lowered his voice. "But someone deliberately stirred it up again. Luna Clark was hospitalized, unconscious. The news was leaked, saying she attempted suicide over love, to divert public attention."
"Luna is in the hospital? Unconscious?" Liam's eyes sharpened.
Oliver looked at him. "It's clearly a trap. We deliberately haven't visited her these past two days to avoid falling into it."
"I know it's a trap," Liam's voice was low. "But I have to go."
"A-Xu!" Oliver grew anxious. "If you go, you'll be playing right into their hands. They're just waiting for you to jump in."
"There are things I must clarify," Liam's tone was resolute. "And I can't let her be used again."
"What about Vivian?" Oliver stared at him. "The engagement was humiliating enough for her. If you do this, how will she bear it?"
"That's why you need to help me," Liam looked at him. "Make the arrangements meticulously. Don't let the news leak. She won't know."
Keeping her on the island was the right decision.
He would bring her back after dealing with the Luna situation.
Things were already complicated enough between them.
He couldn't add more chaos.
Oliver sighed. "Alright. But think it through clearly. Don't let this ruin things between you."
Liam nodded.
Oliver turned to make the arrangements.
Liam stood in place, watching the reporters still refusing to disperse outside the glass doors.
His gaze was deep and dark.
