Chapter 494
Vivian Bennett frowned deeply.
She picked up a cup and poured some black coffee.
She took a small sip.
It was unsweetened.
Bitterness instantly spread across her tongue.
Emily Davis found her just as she finished the entire cup.
"Vivian, are you feeling unwell?" Emily asked with concern.
Vivian forced a smile.
"It's nothing."
She inwardly mocked herself.
How could she let some meaningless gossip disturb her peace?
Liam Sullivan visiting a club girl?
And only eighteen?
He would never do such a thing.
She set the cup down and left the break room with Emily.
At the end of the workday, Vivian stepped out of Sullivan Group.
A figure suddenly rushed over and hugged her tightly.
Sophia Miller had returned from abroad.
Vivian hugged her best friend back, her eyes growing warm.
"Sophia, you're here."
Sophia studied her carefully.
"Vivian, you've lost weight."
She couldn't help but ask.
"Why did you suddenly forgive Liam Sullivan?"
Vivian offered a brief explanation.
Sophia nodded.
"It's good the misunderstanding is cleared up. I always believed in you two."
Vivian smiled, a hint of bitterness in her heart.
Would Sophia still say that if she heard the rumors?
But she wouldn't let gossip cloud her judgment.
"Vivian, come to a gala with me tonight?" Sophia suddenly pleaded.
Vivian intended to refuse.
But she couldn't resist her friend's hopeful expression.
She finally nodded in agreement.
The gala was far grander than expected.
A red carpet was rolled out.
Camera flashes flickered endlessly.
They had simple styling done and changed into evening gowns.
They walked hand in hand down the red carpet.
Just as they were about to enter the ballroom, commotion erupted behind them.
Vivian instinctively turned around.
A stretched Rolls-Royce stopped at the end of the red carpet.
The door opened.
Liam Sullivan stepped out.
His black suit accentuated his tall, straight figure.
He stood still and extended his hand like a gentleman.
A slender hand in a lace glove gently rested on his palm.
Vivian's gaze froze.
Liam had never been that gentlemanly with her.
Sophia also stood rooted to the spot.
