Chapter 476

Vivian Bennett suddenly realized she didn't know Liam Sullivan as well as she thought.

His sudden mood shifts left her completely bewildered.

"Liam, what's wrong?" She looked at him with unease.

Liam quickly composed himself, a faint smile returning to his lips.

"Nothing, just feeling sentimental." He paused. "But I'll allow you to live a life of luxury."

Vivian couldn't help but laugh. "Wouldn't that make me useless? If I ever fell on hard times, it would be terrible."

She knew that feeling all too well.

After her mother passed away, she was no longer the young mistress of the White family.

She had endured her stepmother's abuse, her brother's bullying, and days of hunger and cold.

Only by mastering survival skills could one truly live in this world.

But she didn't understand how Liam, a young master raised in privilege, could comprehend such things.

Could he truly understand her suffering?

Liam's lips curved with confidence. "With me here, how could I ever let you fall to such depths? Just be my live-in lover. I'll take good care of you. No matter what happens, I won't let you suffer."

His voice was deep and gentle. "Just stay in my arms and be happy forever."

Vivian's heart warmed.

This man's sweet words always made her heartbeat quicken.

She had always been independent and self-reliant, accustomed to caring for others.

Suddenly having someone pamper her like this left her both touched and flustered.

It turned out she was also a woman who needed to rely on someone.

She scooped up a spoonful of soup and picked up a pastry. After hesitating, she brought it to his lips.

"Would you like some?" she asked softly.

Amusement sparkled in Liam's eyes as he took a bite from her hand.

His tongue accidentally brushed against her fingertip.

Vivian's hand trembled, and she almost reflexively slapped him.

She quickly withdrew her hand and lowered her head to eat quietly.

Although their relationship had grown much closer, such intimate flirtation still made her uncomfortable.

After finishing their late-night snack, Vivian felt drowsy and urged Liam to take a shower.

When Liam emerged excitedly from his shower, he found her already asleep on the bed.

Her sleeping face was peaceful yet weary.

Liam smiled helplessly and climbed into bed quietly.

He carefully wrapped his arm around her waist and pressed his face against her neck.

Inhaling the faint fragrance of her hair, he closed his eyes contentedly.

Deep in the night.

Vivian suddenly began to tremble.

"No... don't touch me... let go..." she murmured unconsciously, her voice choked with tears.

Liam immediately woke up.

He gently held her shoulders and whispered in her ear, "Vivian, wake up. You're having a nightmare."

Vivian didn't wake up but sank deeper into the nightmare.

She suddenly raised her hand and slapped him hard across the face.

The sharp sound of the slap echoed piercingly in the silent night.
