Chapter 459
Vivian Bennett was not Professor Tony Morrison.
She naturally could not occupy the front row's chief seat.
The organizers placed her in the third row's section for young scholars.
She did not mind this.
Such academic exchanges had always been a stage for established authorities to showcase their achievements.
Young scholars rarely had opportunities to stand out.
If Professor Tony Morrison had attended, he would undoubtedly have been the center of attention.
Since her substitution, the organizers' enthusiasm had noticeably cooled.
A young man from the East sat to her left.
He wore gold-rimmed glasses and carried himself with a calm, scholarly demeanor.
His professional and rigorous manner was impressive.
Their similar Eastern features led to a natural conversation.
To her right was a blond young man from Country A.
Upon hearing her mentor was Tony Morrison, he eagerly joined their discussion.
The three young peers conversed pleasantly.
The conference had not yet begun, but they were already deeply engaged in professional topics.
Vivian could not help but smile.
If Liam Sullivan saw this scene, he would probably be consumed by jealousy.
The thought inexplicably lifted her spirits.
The more he tried to restrain her, the more she would resist.
Even if it was just a trivial resistance.
The venue gradually filled.
Except for those absent due to unforeseen circumstances, almost every seat was occupied.
Only the two chief seats in the front row remained empty.
It was unclear who could be so important as to warrant such a grand entrance.
"Perhaps it's the conference chairman, Dr. Bernard," the blond young man shrugged. "That old authority has always been arrogant. If not for his academic family background, he wouldn't have gotten the chairman position. In my opinion, your mentor should be sitting there."
Vivian smiled slightly. "My mentor is more focused on academic research. He doesn't care much for these empty titles."
The Eastern man adjusted his glasses. "Who is the other seat for? Is there an expert in the field more heavyweight than Professor Tony Morrison?"
They discussed it for a long time but could not guess who deserved that seat.
Like the other attendees, they were full of curiosity about the person who was about to appear.
The conference chairman finally appeared, beaming with joy.
He quickly walked up to the podium and first welcomed the experts from various countries.
He then spoke about the future of the industry and the significance of this exchange.
Finally, he cleared his throat, his voice trembling slightly with excitement.
"This conference aims to promote international academic exchange. We plan to establish a free medical charity for disadvantaged groups." The chairman's face glowed with pride. "Although the ideal is beautiful, funding has always been the biggest challenge. Such institutions usually rely on social donations and corporate sponsorships..."
He suddenly raised his voice. "But today, a socially responsible entrepreneur heard about this and decided to fully fund our institution! He will donate a huge sum annually to ensure its smooth operation!"
The blond young man raised an eyebrow and smiled. "No wonder the chairman is so excited. He's faced constant controversy since taking office. This finally proves his capability. I just wonder who this benefactor really is?"
