Chapter 40
Vivian Bennett was puzzled as Liam Sullivan sat down in the spot she had just vacated.
His deep gaze swept over the makeshift dining table.
A few cold dishes and a half-finished bowl of spaghetti bolognese looked particularly meager.
His brows furrowed unconsciously.
Vivian raised an eyebrow. "What's wrong with this? It's delicious."
Liam pointed to one of the dishes. "What is this?"
"Cold pork skin salad," Vivian answered without thinking.
Liam's expression darkened instantly.
Cold pork skin salad?
He had never heard of such a thing.
"Is this edible?" His voice was low and skeptical.
"Of course it is. I always order it when I come here," Vivian retorted.
She picked up her fork and offered him a piece. "Would you like to try it?"
Liam's brows remained tightly furrowed, his handsome face looking dangerously stormy.
He had reserved the city's most exclusive French restaurant.
Yet she chose to eat this... here.
Seeing his disgusted expression, Vivian froze.
She said awkwardly, "This commoner food probably isn't good enough for a wealthy man like you..."
She must have lost her mind.
Offering pork skin to Liam Sullivan?
There was no way he would eat it.
Liam's lips pressed into a thin line, his entire being radiating an aura of aristocratic disdain.
"Um, Boss, if there's nothing else..."
Curious glances came from all around. A few bold women were even making eyes at Liam.
Vivian bent down and forced herself to speak.
She really wanted to tell him he should leave.
His presence here was completely out of place.
It would be better if he left quickly and stopped disturbing everyone's meal.
She also wanted to slip away as soon as possible.
"Are you full?" Liam looked up, his deep eyes locking onto hers.
He wanted to ask if she was still hungry, so they could go to the restaurant now.
He had prepared many surprises to give her a romantic date.
"Yes!" Vivian nodded without hesitation.
She indicated she couldn't eat another bite.
Liam's eyes changed abruptly.
He stared at her coldly for a long moment before suddenly standing up and grabbing her hand.
"Let's go!"
Vivian was stunned.
Especially her hand, now enveloped in his warm palm.
She couldn't react for a moment.
He was holding her hand again.
And pulling her away in front of everyone.
"Wait, I haven't paid yet!"
Vivian suddenly stopped and called out.
Liam gave a slight nod.
His driver immediately went to settle the bill.
Vivian wanted to say he didn't need to pay.
Before she could speak, Liam pulled her away again.
"Let me go..."
Vivian struggled the entire way.
But Liam held her hand tightly, refusing to let go.
He quickly brought her to his limousine.
He directly pressed forward, trapping her between the car and his chest.
