Chapter 389

The next morning, Vivian Bennett returned to Seattle with Liam Sullivan on a flight.

Sunlight streamed through the window, illuminating her slightly furrowed brow.

Spring was gradually arriving outside the airport.

New green buds sprouted on the branches.

A warm breeze carried the scent of fresh grass.

Her phone vibrated suddenly as she got into the car.

Sophia Miller's name flashed on the screen.

"Vivian..." The voice on the other end was unusually hoarse.

"Come away with me for a while, please?"

Vivian's fingers tightened.

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing." Sophia sighed softly.

"I just suddenly want to get out of this city."

Vivian looked out at the passing streets.

She thought of all the troubles with the White family.

A bitter taste rose in her throat.

"Alright." She heard herself say.

"Tell me when you've decided on a time."

Sophia immediately perked up.

"You always understand me best!"

A cheerful kissing sound came through the receiver.

......

Sullivan Group CEO office.

Liam loosened his tie.

His platinum cufflinks reflected cold light under the lamps.

Ryan Johnson hesitated with the schedule.

"The Pinnacle Corp gala dinner..."

"Take Ms. Ashcroft." Liam glanced at his wristwatch.

Irritation was etched between his brows.

Ryan groaned inwardly.

Everyone knew Pinnacle's Mr. Jiang was a difficult character.

At exactly six o'clock, Liam grabbed his suit jacket and headed straight for the elevator.

He held the phone to his ear.

Only an automated female voice answered.

"The number you have dialed is currently switched off—"

His eyes darkened instantly.

His knuckles rapped sharply against the steering wheel.

The call to Emerald Estate property management connected quickly.

"Ms. Bennett has not returned today."

Grace Harper's reply made his expression turn to ice.

"Vivian went on a trip with Sophia Miller.

She should be back in about a week."

The dial tone buzzed in his ear.

The night outside the car window pressed down heavily.

He sat silently in the driver's seat.

Neon lights flickered across his sharply defined profile.

His phone suddenly lit up.

"Tell Pinnacle." His voice was laced with ice.

"I will arrive in half an hour."

Ryan let out a long breath of relief into the phone.

He didn't understand why the CEO had suddenly changed his mind.

But at least he wouldn't have to face that smiling tiger Mr. Jiang alone.
