Chapter 387
Liam Sullivan finished his work quickly and drove home.
He took a detour to pick up lunch.
Pushing the door open, he found the living room silent.
"Vivian?" he called out.
Only the wind chimes tinkled overhead.
Liam's heart tightened. He hurried into the living room.
Sunlight streamed through the floor-to-ceiling windows. Vivian lay curled up asleep on the recliner.
She rested on her side, cheek pillowed on her arm. A gentle breeze stirred her short hair.
She wore a smoky gray sweater. The hem had ridden up from her sleeping position, revealing a strip of pale skin.
The sunlight traced the delicate curve of her waist. The subtle dip of her lower back was just visible.
Liam sat down softly. His fingertips brushed against her exposed skin.
Vivian shivered and opened her eyes.
Seeing it was him, she lazily rolled onto her back. She allowed his hand to roam.
The sweater slid to her abdomen, exposing her toned stomach and a cute belly button.
Liam leaned down. His kisses dotted the skin around her navel.
Vivian arched sensitively. Soft moans escaped her lips.
He tugged playfully at her leggings, continuing his kisses.
Vivian jolted fully awake. She sat up and pushed him away.
"Why are you so late?" she complained, nipping his forehead. "I'm starving. Did you bring food?"
She hopped off the recliner and bounced toward the dining room.
The afternoon passed in quiet tranquility.
Vivian curled on the sofa watching TV. Liam worked beside her.
His phone rang incessantly.
After the nth call ended, Vivian draped herself over his lap. "You don't have to stay with me. I'm fine."
Liam ruffled her hair. "I know you're tough."
Most girls would have broken down after such an ordeal. She had only been unusually passionate last night.
Her resilience impressed him.
He stood up. "I need to go out for a bit. What do you want for dinner?"
Vivian tilted her head in thought. "Fish."
After Liam left, Vivian dozed out of boredom.
He returned in the evening carrying several bags.
"What did you buy?" Vivian peeked into the shopping bags curiously.
One bag was filled with daily necessities: towels, a toothbrush, slippers...
Another held fresh groceries: fruits, vegetables, fish, and shrimp.
"What's all this for?" she asked, puzzled.
Liam placed the slippers at her feet. "Wear these at home. Don't run around barefoot."
The word "home" made Vivian pause.
Warmth spread through her chest.
"Put the towels and toothbrush in the bathroom. You can use them tonight." He continued unpacking.
