Chapter 385
Vivian Bennett had become particularly clingy recently.
Ever since the incident with the White family.
Liam Sullivan could sense the subtle change in her.
He gently pinched her chin.
She lifted her face, a faint smile curving her lips.
Her legs wrapped around his waist.
Her warm lips pressed against his.
She craved his scent.
Her heart felt hollow.
Her body felt empty.
Only by holding him tightly.
Feeling his kisses and his possession.
Could she fill the void of her anxiety.
She refused to say it out loud.
She simply took desperately.
Like a poisonous poppy.
Beautiful yet intoxicating.
Morning sunlight filtered through the gap in the curtains.
Vivian opened her eyes.
The space beside her was already empty.
A note and a key lay on the nightstand.
"Urgent matter this morning. Try not to go out. I'll be back for lunch."
She clutched the note, warmth spreading through her heart.
She stepped barefoot onto the floor.
She planned to find something to eat in the kitchen.
Just as she reached the living room.
The doorbell suddenly rang.
Who could it be?
She held the key and walked to the door.
She looked through the peephole.
Grace Harper stood outside carrying several large shopping bags.
"Cousin?"
Vivian opened the door, somewhat surprised.
Grace was startled by her current appearance.
Her face was pale and drawn.
She wore only an oversized men's dress shirt.
Her feet were bare.
The shirt hem barely covered her hips.
Her curves were faintly visible.
Clearly, she wore nothing underneath.
Although Grace had known about her relationship with Liam.
Seeing it in person still felt awkward.
Grace cleared her throat softly.
"Liam Sullivan called me."
"He said he had an urgent matter to handle this morning."
"He was worried about leaving you alone at home."
"He sent someone to pick me up to keep you company."
Vivian awkwardly adjusted the collar of her shirt.
"Please, come in."
Grace carried the bags inside.
"What is all this?"
Vivian pointed at the shopping bags on the floor.
"Liam asked me to buy you lingerie."
"Shoes, socks, and clothes."
"And medicine."
"Breakfast and magazines."
Grace deliberately emphasized the name "Liam Sullivan."
Vivian pretended not to catch her teasing.
"Thank you."
"Don't thank me."
"It was all arranged by your Liam Sullivan."
Grace smiled and winked.
Vivian turned her face away.
The tips of her ears grew warm.
Grace pulled her down to sit on the sofa.
"Are you okay?"
"I'm fine."
"Those people from the White family…"
Grace's voice was filled with concern.
"I knew they were up to no good."
"But you insisted on going."
Vivian smiled bitterly and brushed her hair back.
"You can avoid it once, but not forever."
"I had to go see for myself."
Grace sighed softly.
"Thank goodness Liam is protecting you now."
Vivian nodded gently.
Liam was truly her anchor.
