Chapter 360

She forced a faint smile. "Miss Winston? Please don't misunderstand, I was just..."

Chloe Winston's words trailed off, unspoken.

She couldn't very well say, in front of Vivian Bennett, that she insisted Liam Sullivan take her to dinner as an apology.

Vivian, however, smiled gently at her. "There's been some misunderstanding between you two, hasn't there?"

Chloe froze, staring at her in surprise.

Vivian's smile remained soft. "I'm aware of that little misunderstanding you had with Liam Sullivan before."

Trouble in front, prying eyes behind.

One woman scheming for Liam Sullivan, one man watching her with predatory interest.

The situation was utterly suffocating.

Vivian laughed coldly inside. Was Zachary Hudson hiding in the shadows, waiting for them to lose their composure?

Or was he pitying her right now?

Sensing the woman beside him fall silent, Liam Sullivan frowned and pinched her waist.

He nibbled her earlobe, completely ignoring their audience. "What are you thinking about?"

A sharp pain shot through her waist, but Vivian's expression didn't change.

She tilted her head back to look up at the tall man beside her. "Liam Sullivan, when are we getting married?"

"Hmm?" Liam's eyebrows rose.

Across from them, Chloe's eyes widened. "Married?"

The question came out of nowhere.

No one expected Vivian to bring up marriage at that moment.

Vivian smiled brightly, actively linking her arm through Liam's and leaning against him.

She gazed up at him with a charming smile, her eyes reflecting only him.

"Shall we get married?"

He had always been the one to bring up marriage, while she consistently avoided it.

This time, she was the one initiating it, her eyes filled with anticipation.

Liam looked at her deeply.

Suddenly, the corner of his mouth lifted. He gave only one word in reply.

"Okay."

Chloe's face turned deathly pale. Watching their interaction, her expression grew extremely uncomfortable.

Vivian tightened her hold on Liam's arm, openly displaying their intimacy.

Sometimes, a small action could eliminate a great deal of trouble.

Chloe took it all in, her face growing increasingly unpleasant.

Vivian chose that moment to look at her, asking with a light smile, "Miss Winston, regarding that previous misunderstanding between you and him, as his fiancée, I apologize on his behalf. I'm truly sorry."

Truthfully, given Vivian's nature, she preferred to coldly observe the women swarming around Liam Sullivan.

But this time was different.

She didn't want to give the satisfaction to the person watching from the shadows.

She disliked even more having a woman pestering Liam Sullivan.

Chloe's mind went blank, completely unable to process the situation.

She had known all along that Vivian and Liam were a couple. She understood her own place.

But hearing them discuss their wedding date still left her with an indescribable ache in her heart.
