Chapter 283

Vivian Bennett took the phone.

Her finger pressed the power button.

The screen lit up.

She said softly, "So he had it. I thought I lost it and already bought a new one."

Before she finished speaking, the startup music cut off abruptly.

A series of urgent rings exploded instantly.

Seeing the caller ID, a cold smile curled at the corner of Vivian's mouth.

"What a shrewd man."

He even calculated the timing so precisely.

She took a deep breath and pressed the answer button.

Her voice deliberately flat, she said, "What instructions do you have, Boss Liam?"

There was a moment of silence on the other end.

Liam Sullivan's deep voice came through. "Vivian, starting with such formality?"

His voice carried laughter, tender and affectionate. "I kept your phone safe for you. Last night, I even sacrificed myself to detoxify you. Shouldn't you thank me first?"

Vivian's cheeks instantly burned.

She awkwardly turned her face away, avoiding the driver's gaze.

Clearing her throat, she forced composure. "Did you have the driver bring something?"

Liam chuckled lowly. "A gift for you."

His voice was hoarse and ambiguous, as if whispering in her ear. "You'll definitely like it."

Vivian's heart skipped a beat.

She took a deep breath. "I don't want anything from you."

Liam was uncompromising. "No refusing."

His voice was so soft it made her heart tremble.

Vivian's eyelid twitched. She sighed helplessly. "Fine."

Suddenly, violent coughing came from the other end of the line.

Vivian frowned. "What's wrong with you?"

"Nothing." Liam coughed a few times and hurriedly ended the call.

Vivian turned to the driver. "What's wrong with your young master?"

The driver was evasive. "He has a bit of a cold."

Actually, he wasn't sure how severe the young master's illness was.

Vivian was stunned. "A cold?"

Did he catch a chill while saving her last night?

His health was always robust.

But the drug last night was truly potent.

If he hadn't sacrificed himself to save her, she likely wouldn't have escaped unscathed.
