Chapter 270

He took a deep breath and leaned close to her neck.

He greedily inhaled her scent.

Suddenly, he raised the liquor bottle in his hand and shook it obscenely.

"Spicy! I like this type!"

Vivian Bennett saw his true colors revealed and anxiously stepped forward.

"Mr. Evans, didn't we agree I would accompany you? Let her leave. I'll stay!"

Vivian Bennett remained silent and pulled Grace Harper back behind her.

Frank Evans grabbed Vivian Bennett's chin, forcing her to look up.

"Tsk, I didn't expect you sisters to be so close!"

He narrowed his eyes, his smile disgusting.

Vivian Bennett resisted the urge to push him away.

His sarcastic voice reached her ears.

"Both want the other to leave? Are you competing to stay with me, or do you find me disgusting?"

He sneered. "Putting on an act of self-sacrifice?"

A chill ran down Vivian Bennett's spine.

She forced a smile.

"Mr. Evans, it's a misunderstanding. My cousin can't hold her liquor. Her staying would kill the mood. Better let her go home to cook for her husband!"

Frank Evans took a step back.

"Fine. She can leave."

He thumped the bottle on the coffee table and grabbed another.

He placed both bottles side by side.

"Don't say I'm bullying you."

He smiled at Vivian Bennett.

"Which one of you can finish this bottle and still walk out on your own? I'll let that person go."

"If you can't walk out..."

He licked his lips. "Then you'll have to stay and keep me company."

Vivian Bennett's heart tightened.

She had seen this type of liquor before. Extremely high proof, laced with hallucinogens.

Legitimate businesspeople wouldn't touch it.

Only scum like Frank Evans, disguised in human skin, would order it.

She moved her hands behind her back, secretly reaching for the phone in her pocket.

She pressed the speed dial from memory.

The call went through and disconnected immediately.

She repeated this several times.

Liam Sullivan should see her missed calls.

But she waited and waited. The phone remained silent.

Her heart sank bit by bit.

Why was he never there when she needed him?

Frank Evans seemed to notice her subtle movements.

She quickly lowered her hand, pretending to shake it casually.

"This liquor is expensive. My cousin doesn't know anything about alcohol. It would be a waste for her to drink it."

She smiled. "Better let her go. I'll drink both bottles myself."

"If I can still walk out after two bottles, you let me go too, Mr. Evans."

"If I pass out..."

She paused. "I'll stay and keep you company. How about that?"

Grace Harper anxiously pulled her arm.

"Vivian Bennett! Are you insane?"

Frank Evans rubbed his hands excitedly.

"Interesting! Willing to drink two bottles!"

He waved at Grace Harper.

"Ms. Harper, you can go back today. I want to have a proper drink with your sister."

Vivian Bennett immediately pushed Grace Harper toward the door.

"Go! Now!"

Grace Harper struggled, refusing to leave.

Vivian Bennett lowered her voice sharply.

"One getting out is better than none! If you leave, I can still find a way to handle this!"

"Do you have a better idea than me?"

She pushed Grace Harper forcefully.

"Only by leaving can you find someone to save me. Hurry!"

Grace Harper finally relented.

She glanced at Vivian Bennett with tear-filled eyes, gritted her teeth, and rushed out the door.

The door couldn't close in time.

Vivian Bennett stood inside, watching the direction her cousin disappeared.

The dim yellow light illuminated her profile.

Her jade-like skin glowed with a faint luster.

But her expression was resolute and desolate.

Like a warrior heading to certain death.
