Chapter 255
Vivian Bennett pushed open the glass door of the cafe.
She chose a seat in the farthest corner.
She ordered a cappuccino.
Her phone lit up with an incoming call just as she opened a game.
Liam Sullivan's deep voice came through the receiver. "Come out."
She hurried to pay the bill and pushed open the shop door.
The black limousine sat quietly by the curb.
Vivian opened the car door and slid inside.
Liam chuckled softly. "No need to be so nervous."
Vivian pressed her lips together. "You're the CEO of Sullivan Group. Many eyes are watching."
Liam raised an eyebrow. "Do you think we can still clear our relationship?"
His words were like a stone dropped into a still lake.
Vivian's heart skipped a beat.
Her cheeks burned instantly.
Images from the previous nights flashed through her mind.
The car stopped at a red light.
Liam lifted her chin with his fingertip. "We've already slept together. Why are you still blushing?"
Vivian shrank toward the car door.
She opened her mouth, but no sound came out.
It was true they had slept together.
Just not in the way he implied.
Liam's sharply defined profile looked especially deep in the shifting light.
The air inside the car grew thin.
Vivian found it hard to breathe.
She forced herself to appear calm. "If you keep this up, I won't go to dinner."
Liam stepped on the accelerator. "Once you're in my car, it's not your decision anymore."
Vivian glared at him in frustration.
VIP private dining room at the Shangri-La Hotel.
Ethan Roscente checked his watch for the third time. "Why isn't A-Xu here yet?"
Oliver Winston played with his lighter. "Probably because Miss Bennett refused to come."
Alexander Lowell blew a smoke ring. "Don't scare her later."
The three men exchanged glances.
This was Liam's first time formally introducing a girlfriend.
They all wanted to see who this remarkable woman was.
The private dining room door suddenly opened.
Vivian froze in the doorway.
Three men sat amidst swirling cigarette smoke.
She looked at Liam in panic.
Liam tightened his grip on her hand. "They're all old friends."
Vivian's fingertips trembled slightly.
These were hardly her old friends.
She tried to pull her hand back, but he held it firmly.
Since she couldn't escape, she had to face it.
