Chapter 246

Liam Sullivan pushed the door open and closed it behind him.

The enticing aroma of a home-cooked meal filled the air.

“You’re cooking?” His deep voice echoed from the entryway.

Vivian Bennett jolted at the sound, suddenly remembering the soup simmering on the stove.

She hastily placed the bouquet of roses in her arms on the coffee table and rushed toward the kitchen.

“My soup!”

Liam followed her into the kitchen.

In the small space, Vivian was frantically adjusting the stove’s heat.

He reached out and pulled her into his embrace.

“What are you doing?” Vivian stiffened, her voice trembling with alarm.

Liam leaned close to her ear.

“I’m waiting for your answer.”

His warm breath brushed against her earlobe. Vivian shivered sensitively and ducked her neck.

“What answer?” she asked instinctively.

“The three-day promise. Don’t tell me you forgot.” His lips nearly touched her ear. “I waited three days. I want your answer now.”

Vivian turned her head away from his touch.

“I remember. Let me go first. The soup is almost ready...”

Liam gave her no chance to escape.

He released her, turned her to face him, and caged her against the counter with his arms.

Their bodies pressed together without a sliver of space between them.

“Liam…” Vivian felt the heat of his body. Her cheeks flushed instantly.

She pushed against his chest.

“Answer me,” he demanded, his gaze intense.

“Don’t pressure me like this…” Vivian bit her lip and avoided his eyes.

His passionate stare always made her lose her rationality.

A flicker of hurt passed through Liam’s eyes.

“We agreed on three days.”

“I’m sorry. I really haven’t decided yet…” Vivian said apologetically.

Too much had happened these past three days.

Her cousin’s husband’s infidelity. The photo at Zachary Hudson’s house. That mysterious girl…

She hadn’t had any time to think about her promise to Liam.

“I understand,” Liam sighed softly.

Vivian looked up at him in surprise.

His expression was neutral, but she didn’t miss the flash of disappointment in his eyes.

He always hid his truest feelings deep inside.

After a moment of silence, Liam straightened up and released her.

Vivian stood still, watching the loss in his eyes. Her heart ached inexplicably.

Liam lowered his gaze and turned to leave the kitchen.

“Liam,” Vivian suddenly called out to him.

He stopped but didn’t turn around. “If it’s not the answer I want to hear, don’t say it.”

The mighty Boss Liam, who had never feared anything, tasted timidity for the first time.

He was afraid of hearing her rejection.

But the word “surrender” didn’t exist in his dictionary.

He closed his eyes briefly, then turned to face Vivian, who still stood by the counter. “I just need one answer. If it’s not the one I want, I’ll keep waiting.”

“What if I can never give you the answer you want?” Vivian lifted her head to meet his gaze.
