Chapter 230

Vivian Bennett felt a buzzing in her head.

Her heartbeat suddenly accelerated, pounding against her chest like a drum.

She had always been thin-skinned and couldn't handle such direct flirtation from a man.

She simply turned her head away, refusing to look at him.

Liam Sullivan's gaze remained fixed on her.

Her pink loungewear hung loosely, making her skin appear even fairer.

Her long hair was casually tied into a ponytail, with a few strands falling beside her neck.

Compared to those meticulously dressed socialites, her casual attire seemed refreshingly pure.

Like a clear mountain spring, it silently seeped into his heart.

Vivian felt extremely uncomfortable under his scorching gaze.

She pursed her lips. "It's so late. Aren't you going back?"

Liam's brows furrowed slightly.

No one had ever dared to dismiss him like this.

His expression darkened. "I'm hungry. I couldn't find anything to eat nearby. Make me something."

Vivian glanced at the clock on the wall.

It was already half past ten. This man still hadn't eaten dinner.

Seeing her hesitation, Liam's voice deepened. "Unwilling?"

Under his overwhelming presence, Vivian had no choice but to turn and walk into the kitchen.

There weren't many ingredients left in the refrigerator.

She bit her lip and called out. "Is spaghetti okay?"

"No onions, ginger, or garlic," the man instructed without turning his head, his eyes still on the TV screen.

Vivian muttered to herself. Nitpicky!

Soon, a steaming bowl of pasta was placed on the table.

Watching the man's elegant eating manner, she couldn't help but ask. "Why haven't you eaten so late?"

Liam paused.

He looked up at her, a playful curve forming at the corner of his mouth. "Concerned about me?"

Vivian's heart trembled, and her cheeks instantly burned.

Who was concerned about him? It was just a casual question!

"Not at all," she hurriedly turned her face away, avoiding his deep gaze.

Liam looked at the flustered woman before him, his cold features unconsciously softening.

While clearing the dishes, Vivian heard thunder rumbling outside.

A storm was coming.

Liam had been searching for a reason to stay.

This rain came at the perfect time.

Vivian stood on her tiptoes to look out the window.

Lightning split the night sky, illuminating her clear pupils.

"Is it going to rain?" she murmured softly.

Liam stood behind her, his tone calm. "It's already raining."

Vivian turned around abruptly. "Then why aren't you leaving quickly?"

Liam spread his hands helplessly. "Driving in a storm is too dangerous. What if something happens..."

Vivian's heart tightened, instantly seeing through his intentions.

"You want to freeload at my place?"

Liam looked completely natural. "Just taking shelter from the rain."

His reason was flawless.

But who knew how long this rain would last.
