Chapter 225

Vivian Bennett had to explain in a low voice.

"He's just a regular colleague."

The pressure in Liam Sullivan's gaze lessened slightly.

He didn't press further.

"Cancel it," he commanded, shoving a bowl of rice into her hands.

"You must have lunch with me whenever I'm at the company."

Vivian's eyes widened in disbelief.

Why?

Liam lounged lazily on the sofa, his tone matter-of-fact.

"Given our current relationship, shouldn't you be having meals with me?"

Vivian was puzzled.

"What relationship?"

Liam suddenly leaned in close.

His intense masculine presence instantly enveloped her.

Vivian instinctively tried to pull away.

But she heard him whisper in her ear, "You're my woman."

Vivian immediately retorted, "I'm not—"

The corner of Liam's mouth lifted slightly.

"Have you forgotten that night at the hot springs so quickly?"

Vivian's cheeks flushed crimson instantly.

How dare he bring up that night?

A dark fire ignited in Liam's eyes.

"Do you need me to help you remember it again?"

Vivian trembled and shook her head frantically.

"No!"

She would rather die than experience that again.

"Then eat properly," Liam's gaze was intensely possessive.

"Otherwise—"

Vivian froze immediately.

Understanding his implication, she didn't dare move anymore.

Watching her pouting, angry expression, Liam's lips curved upward unconsciously.

"Eat."

He added more food to her bowl and commanded in a low voice.

"Let me down first."

Vivian's scalp tingled as she protested urgently.

How could she eat sitting on his lap like this?

More importantly, she could clearly feel his physical reaction.

There was no way she could focus on eating.

"If I let you down, will you eat properly?" Liam's deep gaze locked onto her.

Vivian had no choice but to nod.

Since she was already in his office, how could she leave easily?

She would just have to reschedule with her colleague another day.

Liam studied her for a moment before finally placing her beside him.

But his large hand remained firmly around her waist.

Although the position was still intimate, it was at least less dangerous.

Vivian immediately took out her phone to text her former colleague.

She explained she had something come up and would treat them to a meal next time.

Fortunately, the other person wasn't angry and just said they'd arrange another time.

Vivian put away her phone, feeling slightly relieved.

Looking at the exquisite meal before her, her emotions were complicated.

She was actually having lunch with the big boss?

It felt unreal no matter how she thought about it.

Especially after what Zachary Hudson said last night when she got out of the car.

It had dawned on her.

How could Liam Sullivan accept a woman who had been with someone else?

Vivian lowered her eyes and sighed inwardly.

She and Liam were destined to have no future.

Since they would break up eventually, it was better to clarify things early.
