Chapter 224

Vivian Bennett stood frozen in place, her fingertips trembling slightly.

She stared at the document as if it were a burning hot coal.

Emily Davis leaned closer, lowering her voice. "Should I deliver it for you?"

Vivian shook her head and tightened her grip on the file.

What must come will come.

She turned toward the elevator, her back radiating determination.

Emily watched her retreating figure and couldn't help muttering. "Why does it have to be Vivian?"

Thomas Carter shot her a cold glance. "Don't ask questions you shouldn't."

Emily immediately fell silent.

Top-floor CEO office.

Vivian stood outside the door, taking a deep breath.

She raised her hand and knocked.

"Come in."

Liam Sullivan's deep voice came through the door.

She pushed the door open.

"Mr. Sullivan, this document requires your signature."

She placed the file on the desk, her tone distant.

Liam looked up, his gaze intense.

"Sit."

Vivian remained standing. "The PR department needs it urgently."

Liam set down his pen and leaned back in his chair.

"Have you eaten?"

He asked suddenly.

Vivian froze.

Liam pressed the intercom.

Ryan Johnson soon entered carrying two insulated lunch boxes.

He placed the containers on the coffee table and silently withdrew.

"I'll sign after we eat."

Liam stood and moved toward the sofa.

Vivian frowned. "I thought you kept business and personal matters separate."

Liam elegantly opened the lunch boxes.

The aroma of food filled the air.

"The food will get cold if you don't come over."

His tone was calm but left no room for refusal.

Vivian clenched her fingers.

She walked over quickly. "Mr. Sullivan, I really have something urgent."

Liam looked up at her. "What urgent matter?"

"I have an appointment."

"With whom?"

"A former colleague."

"Male or female?"

Vivian finally lost her composure. "Is that any of your business?"

Liam's eyes darkened instantly.

He reached out and pulled her into his arms.

"Do you think it's my business?"

His presence enveloped her, carrying a dangerous intensity.

Vivian bit her lip and remained silent.

Liam leaned closer. "Will you eat by yourself, or shall I feed you?"

His gaze dropped to her lips, his meaning unmistakable.

Vivian turned her face away. "I'm meeting someone to discuss important matters."

"What important matters?"

"Personal matters."

Liam grasped her chin, forcing her to meet his eyes.

"From now on, your personal matters are my matters."
