Chapter 149
Vivian Bennett felt her stomach churn.
Mr. Richardson's greasy gaze swept over her.
She fought back nausea and picked up her glass.
He raised his own glass to meet hers.
"Miss Bennett, let's have a drink first."
Their glasses clinked with a clear sound.
Vivian threw her head back and drank.
The strong liquor burned her throat.
She set down her glass and got straight to the point.
"Mr. Richardson, let's discuss the contract."
He waved his hand, a wide smile on his face.
"We agreed this was just for dinner and drinks. No business."
He refilled her glass and pushed it toward her.
Vivian clenched her fist.
"This is urgent."
Mr. Richardson narrowed his eyes.
"If it's urgent, talk to my secretary tomorrow."
Her heart sank.
She knew this was just an excuse.
He poured another glass.
"Come, have another drink."
Vivian gritted her teeth and took it.
The alcohol was harsh, but she forced it down.
He suddenly leaned in close.
"Are you cold, Miss Bennett?"
His hand grabbed her wrist.
Vivian jerked her hand back.
Her shawl was pulled off.
Her smooth shoulders were exposed under the light.
Mr. Richardson's breathing grew heavy.
He pulled Vivian into his arms.
"So beautiful."
His alcohol-laced breath hit her neck.
Vivian struggled fiercely.
"Mr. Richardson, behave yourself!"
His hand wandered over her back.
His other arm tightened around her waist.
"So fragrant..."
His voice grew slurred.
His hand moved toward her skirt.
Vivian froze.
"Don't..."
She pushed against him with all her strength.
Mr. Richardson was almost crushing her.
"Miss Bennett, I like you."
He whispered in her ear.
"Shall we get a room and talk slowly?"
Vivian gave a cold laugh.
"Talk about what?"
He grinned.
"Once we're in a room, anything can be discussed."
Vivian clenched her jaw.
She should have seen this coming.
Now she was trapped.
His weight was suffocating.
She gathered her strength.
Ready to deliver a fatal blow.
