Chapter 143

Vivian Bennett changed into clean pajamas.

She stepped out of the bathroom wearing slippers.

The enticing aroma of food drifted through the air.

She walked to the kitchen door in surprise.

Liam Sullivan stood by the stove in his crisp suit.

He wore her small floral apron.

He was busy cooking.

He turned when he heard her approach.

"You're just in time. Dinner is ready."

He placed the final dish on the table.

He gestured for her to sit in the dining room.

Vivian's eyes widened.

The table was set with stir-fried kidney.

There was Longjing shrimp.

Vinegar-infused cabbage.

Steamed salmon.

And a bowl of steaming rice.

Did he prepare all this?

"Did... you make all this?" she asked in disbelief.

Liam removed his apron and walked toward her.

"A few dishes were brought by my staff on their way."

The rest were indeed made by him.

He wanted to cook for her himself, seeing how weak she was from illness.

"This is already amazing," Vivian praised sincerely.

In the short time she took a shower, he had created a feast.

Liam moved close to her.

He gazed at her intently.

Suddenly, he took her arm.

He led her back to the bathroom.

"What's wrong?" Vivian asked, confused.

The food was ready. Why couldn't she eat?

"Where is the hair dryer?" Liam asked, his voice deep.

Vivian pointed to the shelf. "Over there."

Liam took the hair dryer.

He plugged it in.

He tousled her wet hair gently.

He dried it carefully.

"Don't ever come out like this again," he said sternly.

"Even if you're starving, dry your hair first."

"If you catch a cold, no one will take care of you."

Vivian watched him through the mirror.

He seemed genuinely angry.

Angry that she didn't take care of herself?

Vivian felt a stir in her heart.

He cared more about her health than she did.

The hair dryer hummed softly.

Warm air flowed through her strands.

He didn't stop until her long hair was completely dry.

Then he put the hair dryer away.

They returned to the dining room.

Vivian buried herself in eating.

Every dish was incredibly delicious.

Whether it was because she was starving or not, she felt it was the best meal of her life.

"Do you like it?" Liam watched her closely.

Vivian nodded vigorously. "Yes. I really like it."

A slight smile touched Liam's lips.

He barely touched his own food, focused only on watching her eat.

Halfway through her meal, Vivian looked up suddenly.

"Why aren't you eating?"

"Watching you eat is enough for me," Liam said, his eyes smiling.
